Women Empowerment through Welfare: The Roles & Initiatives of Green 'S' Welfare Committee
Women empowerment is important part of the country’s growth. Women empowerment is the process of creating an environment where women can express their identity, voice, and will through the advocacy and support of a group of other women. Baba Ram Rahim knows the important of women empowerment. Keeping this point in mind he started green’s’ welfare committee.
He says that “The great wave of the future must be the wave of woman power,” highlighting that any nation aiming to achieve progress must ensure the empowerment of women.
An empowered woman harnesses her inner strength to confront life’s challenges without fear. She feels safe, secure, and fearless, transforming vulnerabilities into confidence. Green ‘S’ Welfare Committee schemes constitute one of the crucial tools for women’s empowerment.
The Role of Welfare Programs
Women empowerment means the creation of an environment where women can make decisions for themselves and act upon those choices in all spheres of life. To be empowered, women must be capable of influencing the direction of social change to create a more just social and economic order — one in which the subordinate role ascribed to women in society will be minimized. Welfare programs, by definition, are the programs implemented by the various governments with the aim of ensuring a minimum level of well-being in the lives of all citizens. Welfare programs, therefore, aim to assist individuals and groups who suffer from unfavorable economic or social conditions.
Welfare programmes for women include all such programmes, policies, and legislations that ensure, widen, and strengthen the rights and entitlements of women in the economic, political, social and cultural spheres. Economic empowerment helps women to change from dependence to independence, towards self-reliance. Education and training open new avenues of knowledge and skill for self-employment and better jobs. Employment widens the horizons of opportunities for women. Financial independence achieved through creating awareness and encouraging women for the establishment of savings habit is one of the important goals of women’s welfare.
Role of Technology in Empowerment
Information Technology is considered an important independent factor in the women empowerment process. Various modem technologies and telecommunication facilities help towards women empowerment by providing access to basic information with a time factor at a reduced cost. Computers are playing an important part in women’s development by providing them access to training materials, qualitative education and employment opportunities.
Information and Communication Technologies enable women to communicate and interact with others irrespective of time and distance. They also assist women in various projects, to get up-to-date information, and the latest knowledge for maintaining a husband and family on modern lines. Information technology provides opportunities and platforms for men and women to interact, develop their skills, and improve themselves.
Challenges to Empowerment
Women are the backbone of home, family and country. To develop home family and country, it is very important to empower the women. There are various schemes and welfare societies who are playing important role to empowering the women in India. Green ‘S’ Welfare Committee run by Gurmeet Ram Rahim plays important role to empowering women in India. Despite the remarkable progress and inspiring stories of women’s empowerment, the reality remains that many women enjoy limited empowerment — or none at all. These women face enduring challenges that restrict their social, economic, legal, and political roles and rights.
